Upgrading to Logos 7

Base Packages and Features

When you upgrade you have the choice of a Library Base Package (resources only) with or without a Feature set, or a Feature set only. Feature sets offer datasets/features and a basic set of resources that work with the datasets and Guides —> Full Feature Set / Starter Feature Set. If you are offered the Full set with a base package, you can purchase the Library by itself and then purchase the Starter set.
An Extended Feature Set was released in late January, 2017 which offers more resources than Full and a few extra features.

In addition to the Standard base packages you will find that there are denominational packages for Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Lutheran, Pentecostal & Charismatic, Methodist & Wesleyan, Reformed, Orthodox and SDA. Catholic users can use the Verbum application with their base packages.

 Finally, there is a Special Interest package Biblical Languages, which offers comprehensive original-language study to members of the Faithlife Academic Program.

Considerations

Logos 7 needs Windows 7 SP1 or Apple OS X 10.10 or higher.

The Base packages and Feature sets will give you a discount for titles/features you already own so that you will pay only for titles/features that are “New to you”. Note that the discount will be relative to the price structure of the package so it cannot be the same as the price you paid if purchased as individual items (or even a collection).

A Logos Now or Verbum Now subscription will give you a discount on base packages and feature sets, but you don’t need a feature set as Logos/Verbum Now combine the Full & Extended Feature sets with newly developed features as long as you are a subscriber.

If you already own a base package (Logos 4 or higher) then you can:-

• upgrade to a Standard base package, and/or a denominational package(s); OR
• upgrade via a Feature set or a subscription to Logos/Verbum Now; OR
• upgrade via a combination of the above e.g. base package(s) & Feature set, Logos Now & base package(s).

If you are new to Logos or never owned a base package (Logos 4 or higher):-

• you can choose any Logos 7 base package, or a special interest package; AND
• choose a Feature set or a subscription to Logos/Verbum Now.

(a Feature set is essential to avoid the experience that “something is missing” in Logos 7).

Finally, you can choose the free Logos 7 Basic Library to use with your current Library or to experiment with, as it has a few resources and datasets.

Compares the features in Logos 7 with those available in Logos 4/5/6 and indicates
what you can expect from the free Logos 7 Basic Library with your current Library.

Note: if you already have any of these features they will still be available in Logos 7.

All the features of Logos 4/5/6 are in Logos 7. Some of the menu items have been rearranged, so features may be in a different place.
