There is a significant performance hit when Links to Open Books is turned on in Church Dogmatics and RCL; scrolling in any resource becomes slow and erratic and there is very high CPU usage while scrolling. There is a lesser performance hit when Links to Open Books is turned on in other resources (?related to size of book), and the slow down is cumulative such that scrolling becomes sluggish if several resources are open with Links to Open Books selected.
Edit: I have set the severity to critical as evidence is accumulating from a few other forum posters that this may be causing some of the completely inexplicable performance issues that some people have been having.
