Use BWS to look in multiple Dict/Lexicons

Objective

  • Build a custom Bible Word Study guide to show definitions in multiple Dictionaries or Lexicons.
  • This will open your prioritized dictionary or lexicon where the word is found.
  • It will not open multiple resources
    • But it will allow you to use your mouse to hover over the different dictionaries or lexicons to see the definition of your word.




Building the BWS guide

  • The following steps will guide you in building this custom BWS Guide.
  • I suggest starting with a blank layout.
    • In the command box type Clear all and press enter.


  1. In the top menu, click on Guides.
  2. In the drop down menu, click on Make a new guide template.

    • (Logos will open a new tab as shown below)

  3. The guide editor is opened in a new tab.
  4. Click in the Title and rename it to BWS Dict/Lexicon.
  5. Click on Bible Word (this has Logos change available headings)

    • (Headings on the left should appear as shown below)

  6. Click on Definition to add it on the right.
  7. Click on Lemma to add it on the right.
    • (your right side of the editor should appear as shown below)

  8. Click on the x to close the guide editor.
    We are done building the custom guide.




Using the BWS guide to lookup word

Using with English words


  1. Open a Bible resource.
  2. Right click on a word in your Bible.
  3. In the pop-up menu on the right, click on Selection.
  4. In the pop-up menu on the left, click on BWS Dict/Lexicon.
    (if it is not visible, try using the scroller to scroll down on the left)
    • (Logos will open your custom guide)

  5. Logos opens the guide to the word that you selected.
  6. These are available dictionaries which Logos found your word in.
  7. You can hover your mouse over these dictionaries and a pop-up will show you their definitions.




Using with Original language words


  1. Open a Bible resource.
  2. Right click on a word in your Bible.
  3. In the pop-up menu on the right, click on Lemma.
  4. In the pop-up menu on the left, click on BWS Dict/Lexicon.
    (if it is not visible, try using the scroller to scroll down on the left)
    • (Logos will open your custom guide)

  5. Logos opens the guide to the word that you selected.
  6. These are available dictionaries/lexicons which Logos found your word in.
  7. You can hover your mouse over the dictionaries/lexicons and a pop-up will show you their definitions.
