Pre-Release Estimated Timeline for Feature Implementation
Bob Pritchett (from the Forums):
“If you PROMISE not to hold me to it... I’d GUESS that you’ll have good, stable build within two months that performs well on core behaviors, like reading, searching, and the Passage Guide. I’d [WILD GUESS] say we’re six months from “most people can’t tell the difference” between Mac/Windows functionality....We’re basically working library, reading, searching, Passage Guide, Exegetical Guide, Bible Word Study Guide, tool windows (Information, Power Lookup, Copy Bible Verses, Explorer, Cited By,...) , etc. in that order.” (Posted here on Mon Nov 30, 2009)
Seven months later, David Mitchell (Logos 4 Macintosh Development Lead):
“My lips, however, are still sealed when it comes to divulging hints about when you might have a beta.” (Posted here on Thu Jul 1, 2010)
In same forum thread, Bob Pritchett added:
“We’re getting to the point where “Alpha” and “Beta” are semantic distinctions, not technical ones.” (Posted here on Thu Jul 1, 2010)
Almost 3 weeks later, Logos 4 Mac Beta 1 released Wed Jul 21, 2010 :)
Couple months later, Logos 4 Mac Release Candidate 1 available Tue Sep 14, 2010 followed by “Gold Master” on Fri Sep 17, 2010 :)
Turns out “WILD GUESS” of 6 months in 2009 became 10.5 months – frequent releases with dramatic improvements.
