Logos 4.3 Beta 7
Logos 4.3 Beta 7 (Mac v4.30.0.0802) (Windows v4.30.0.0803) was released on June 7, 2011.
New Features
- Personal Books
- Error reporting and handling implemented. For example, when building a book with a non-.docx file format, the message “Failed to build Personal Book. [Filename] is not a valid Word document.” will appear.
- Searching implemented. Basic Search results will now include results from personal books in the ‘My Books’ section, between ‘My Content’ and ‘Library Results’. (See Known Issues.)

- Added graphic to installation dialog to demonstrate dragging of Logos Bible Software 4 to the Applications folder. (Note: Double-clicking the Logos Bible Software 4 icon will also copy to the Applications folder, as well as automatically start the program.)

- Fixed bug that displayed ‘Edit’ screen after book compilation instead of a ‘Finished’ button.

- Personal Books
- Books compiled in the beta cycle will expire, at the latest, when 4.3 is shipped to the stable channel due to further changes that will be made.
- Personal Books will not automatically sync between computers.
- Personal Books from LDLS3 (*.lbxpbb) cannot be read in Logos 4; they will need to be recompiled from the original sources. For more information, see this thread.
- If Smart Tags are used in the source Word document, the Bible references will be removed from the PBB output (see discussion here).
- Citation Information is not available for Personal Books.
- Images are not yet supported
- Hyperlinks do not work, though they will retain their formatting.
- Not all formatting is preserved, e.g. margins, indentation, paragraph and text spacing, text effects and word art, highlighting, and fill effects are ignored.
- Lists lose their bullets and numbers
- Fonts are currently ignored.
- Footnotes and endnotes are currently ignored.
- Text boxes, charts, embedded documents and other similar features are not supported.
- Milestone tags, e.g.,
[[@Page:p3]] are not detected consistently. - From within the PB panel, a Personal Book cannot be dragged to the Shortcut bar or to a particular location on the screen to control where the book opens (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33882/254193.aspx#254193).
- Adding multiple files into one Personal Book is not currently supported.
- Editing text which has had a highlight style applied to it before recompiling the book will cause the highlight to shift location (http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33894/254237.aspx).
- Although a resource can be built with the “Bible” type, it will not function correctly as a Bible in Logos 4 (e.g., Copy Bible Verses, Bible Text Only, etc., do not work).

Known Issues for Mac
- Notes
- The active note cannot be collapsed in Compact view.
- Personal Books
- Deleting a personal book only removes it from the Personal Books panel; it does not remove it from the Library or the hard disk.

- Personal books cannot be deleted.
- Edit/Open/Finished buttons are cut-off/disappear when resizing the panel to be smaller.
