Logos 4.2a Beta 5 (Windows v4.21.4.9488) was released on January 18, 2011.

New Features
- Indexing
- The Bible and Library indexes will be rebuilt when 4.2a Beta 5 is run for the first time. (This is to ensure that all users who upgrade to 4.2a get the new index format automatically, and have their supplemental index—if any—merged into the main index.)
- The indexer will automatically merge a supplemental index into the main index after it has been built. (This was already happening for the Bible index; it has now been enabled for the Library index.)
- The New Resources section in Search has been removed (because the supplemental index will be merged automatically).
- Passage Guide
- Illustrations section is implemented and available to add to an existing Passage Guide and in the Guide Template Editor.
- Updates
- Download size for updates (to existing resources) has been reduced.
- Scheduling of downloads has been added to Automatically Download Updates in Program Settings. This will enable a user to schedule downloads between certain hours of the day. Notes: “Automatically Download Updates” must be set to “Yes” to see this feature. The Logos 4 icon will appear when the program becomes aware of an update, with a tooltip that will indicate the scheduled time of the download.

- Implemented Print/Export for Clause Visualizer resources.

- Implemented Print/Export for Sentence Diagram Documents.
New Features for Windows
- Setup
- Beta 5 includes a new version of the Logos4Prerequisites.msi, which includes a new Coptic font, “Antinoou” (regular and italic), and updates to the LogosSymbolsUnicode.ttf and SBL_Hbrw.ttf fonts. Notes: Updating a previous Logos 4 installation will require an administrator password for elevation for a Standard user account. The updated .msi file will make the Beta 5 download bigger by 19.5 MB.
Bug Fixes
- Search
- Fixed bug that allowed a user to have both “Match case” and “Match all word forms” selected at the same time after rerunning a previous search.
- Fixed crash (NotImplementedException) when searching for a phrase that included a colon with a number after it (e.g.,
"John 1:1"). - Searching for
144,000 or "144,000" will now find hits for the number (no index rebuild required).
Bug Fixes for Mac
- Cited By
- Changes to a Collection’s title will dynamically change in Cited By (when that Collection is enabled on the panel menu).
- Passage Guide
- After adding or editing a guide title for a particular passage in the top section and pressing Tab or Enter, the guide title will be updated immediately.
- Resource Panel,
- Clicking into a resource panel will now give that resource complete focus to enable Read Aloud or Paged View.
- Columns in Hebrew Bibles will be arranged in right-to-left order. Note: If an English Preface exists, it will also be in RTL column order.
- Fixed bug that caused URLs copied from resources with no reference box (e.g., “Spurgeon’s Sermons” volumes) to result in a non-functional hyperlink when pasted into another application (e.g., MacJournal). (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/28565.aspx)
- Fixed display of popup when footnote link is clicked so that text is not truncated.
- Morph popups will appear when hovering over morphology codes in a Reverse Interlinear Bible’s interlinear pane.
- Pressing the “Esc” key with text in the Find box, will now clear the text. If there is no text, pressing “Esc” will close Find.

- Fixed crash (InvalidOperationException) that could occur when editing a style with an empty name.
- Home Page
- The “...and # more” at the end of the Resources Updated section on the home page is now a hyperlink that will expand the full list of remaining resources. Note: The list cannot be collapsed once it has been expanded until F5 is pressed to refresh or Logos 4 is closed and restarted.

- Fixed bug that caused Hebrew words to be reversed in status bar info when hovering over a multiple-word lemma with spaces.

- “By Title” now trims titles to word instead of letter (e.g., “Wesleyan...” instead of “Wesleya...”).
- Fixed bug that added an empty search result page after expanding the last result when sorted By Title or By Count.

- Fixed bug that allowed invalid rich text to be created during editing of a diagram or during import of a Logos 3 diagram, resulting in null exceptions.

Known Issues
- Closing the Passage Guide while the Illustrations section is running may hang the application.
Known Issues for Mac
- Print/Export
- Search Analysis results can be exported to Excel; however, the preview in Print/Export will be blank.
- Printing/Exporting in Resources, other than Clause Visualizer resources, is not supported yet.
