By Count search results

• Added “By Count” view to Basic Search results.
• “By Book” has been renamed to “By Title.”

Column choice

• Replaced “Paged view” option with “Columns: None, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Auto,” enabling users to choose the number of columns of text to display in resources.

Download Scheduler

• Scheduling of downloads has been added to Automatically Download Updates in Program Settings. This will enable a user to schedule downloads between certain hours of the day. Note: the Logos 4 icon will appear when the program becomes aware of an update, with a tooltip that will indicate the scheduled time of the download.
• A “Download Now” option is available on the Logos indexer context menu to override download scheduler. When the blue Logos icon appears on the Mac toolbar or Windows taskbar, right-click and choose “Download Now” to begin download.
• Entering the “Update Now” command will also override the download scheduler.

Home Page Release Notes link and Resources Updated list

• Added a new home page section that displays a link to the Release Notes for a recent software update.
• Added a new home page section that displays a list of Updated Resources for a particular date, (e.g., “Resources Updated on Tuesday, March 1, 2011”).
  • It may be necessary to press F5 to refresh home page.
  • To hide this content, click on Customize and deselect ‘Updated Resources’.
  • If the resource can be accessed from your Library, its title will be a hyperlink to open the resource. If the update cannot be accessed, (such as a syntax database (.lbssyn), it will not be a hyperlink).
  • Click on the “...and # more” hyperlink to expand the full list of remaining resources. Note: The list cannot be collapsed once it has been expanded except by pressing F5 to refresh or by closing and restarting Logos 4.

Illustrations

• “Illustrations” section has been added to Passage Guide.

Indexing

• The Bible and Library indexes will be rebuilt when 4.2a is run for the first time. (This is to ensure that all users who upgrade to 4.2a get the new index format automatically, and have their supplemental index—if any—merged into the main index.)
• The indexer will automatically merge a supplemental index into the main index after it has been built. (This was already happening for the Bible index; it has now been enabled for the Library index.) It is no longer necessary to run the Merge Index command to merge indexes.
• The New Resources section in Search has been removed (because the supplemental index will be merged automatically).

Other New Features

• Highlighting
  • Added context menu item to remove highlighting from selected text. Right-click on selected text containing highlighting, choose “Selection” on the right side of menu, and then “Remove highlighting” on the left side.
• Perseus Lookup
  • A link that opens the Perseus Latin Word Study Tool in a web browser has been added to the right-click menu of texts with Latin words.
  • A link that opens the Perseus Arabic Word Study Tool in a web browser has been added to the right-click menu of texts with Arabic words.
• Search
  • Improvements made to phrase searching.
• Setup (Windows version only)
  • Version 4.2a includes a new version of the Logos4Prerequisites.msi, which includes a new Coptic font, “Antinoou,” as well as updates to the LogosSymbolsUnicode.ttf and SBL_Hbrw.ttf fonts. Notes: Updating a previous Logos 4 installation will require an administrator password for elevation for a Standard user account. The updated .msi file will make software download bigger by 19.5 MB.

  • Download size for updates (to existing resources) has been reduced.

What’s New in the Mac version

• Printing
  • “Print/Export” [Cmd-P] available for all panels (except Copy Bible Verses, Home, Layouts, and Library).

• Resource Column (paged) view
  • Choose one of the “Columns” options on a resource panel menu option to configure how many columns to display in a resource. Choices are None (non-paged view), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and Auto.
  • “Auto” will display more than one column depending on the width of the panel.
  • The panel scrollbar is removed and page buttons are provided in the lower-right corner (lower-left corner for RTL resources) to navigate through pages.
  • Press Shift-Cmd-P to toggle paged view on or off.
  • Column view is also available and can be configured while in Reading View.

• Sentence Diagramming
  • “Sentence Diagram” document added to File menu.
  • “Send to Sentence Diagram” added to panel menu of Harmony resources.

• Services
  • Added two system level Services menu items: “Copy Bible Verses” [Shift-Cmd-J] and “Expand Bible Reference” [Shift-Cmd-E].
    • “Copy Bible Verses” opens CBV in a floating window from applications that interact with the Services menu (e.g., Pages, TextEdit, Chrome, etc.).
    • “Expand Bible Reference” replaces a reference typed into one of these applications with the text of the passage. Select the reference first, and then press Shift-Cmd-E or choose from Services menu.
    • To display the menu items on the Services menu and enable the keyboard shortcuts, click on any application’s main menu and choose Services. Click on Services Preferences, click on Keyboard Shortcuts at the top of the Keyboard dialog, select Services on the left, and select the two services under the Text heading.

Bug fixes for Mac

• Citations
  • Fixed bug that prevented citation number from appearing in footnote when pasted with text into Word.
• Cited By
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Cited By collections from displaying results if the section was collapsed on Windows and synced to Mac.
• Copy Bible Verses
  • Fixed bug that caused a Greek semicolon to paste as another character.
  • Special characters used in Spanish, Portuguese and other non-English Bibles are pasted correctly.
• Explorer
  • ‘In progress’ indicators are now right aligned.
• Find
  • Fixed bug that prevented the Find box from appearing when Cmd-F was pressed in resources and other panels.
  • Pressing the “Esc” key with text in the Find box, will now clear the text. If there is no text, pressing “Esc” will close Find.
• Guides
  • After adding or editing a guide title for a particular passage in the top section and pressing Tab or Enter, the guide title will be updated immediately.
  • Choosing “Add Notes” from Guides section expander context menu will now open and focus the Notes field in that section.
  • Fixed crash (InvalidOperationException) that could occur when opening Logos 4 to a named layout.
  • Fixed crash in Word by Word section for certain reverse interlinears.

  • Columns in Hebrew Bibles will be arranged in right-to-left order. Note: If an English Preface exists, it will also be in RTL column order.
  • Fixed bug that caused URLs copied from resources with no reference box (e.g., “Spurgeon’s Sermons” volumes) to result in a non-functional hyperlink when pasted into another application (e.g., MacJournal).
  • Fixed display of popup when footnote link is clicked so that text is not truncated.
  • Fixed bug that prevented focus going to panel when clicking in panel rather than on tab. This was limited to a panel docked next to another panel in a floating window.
  • Replaced free (yellow) tooltip with styled Resource Hover Tip for Equivalent Versions.

  • Double-clicking a compound Hebrew word will open a lexicon to the main lemma entry.
  • Fixed crashes in Bible Word Study and Resource panel when “Septuagint with Logos Morphology” was accessed.
• Startup
  • Sign in dialog now says “Sign in to Logos.com” instead of “Log in to Logos.com.”
• Text Comparison
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the toolbar from displaying in certain cases.
  • Hebrew text is no longer clipped in Immediate Compare window when it wraps to a second line.
  • Pressing F7 when hovering over a datatype reference will open the Immediate Compare window for that reference.
  • Text size in Immediate Compare (F7) will match the text size of the active resource.
• Update
  • The program will recognize an attempt to install a version older than the currently installed version, and it will display a message that an upgrade is required and Logos 4 cannot be downgraded.

• Basic Search
  • Fixed bug that caused a missing hit for a reference where a numeral being searched was followed by a period or other punctuation.
• Biblical People
  • Fixed crash switching to “Clásico” theme in Spanish UI.
• Bible Word Study
  • Fixed bug that prevented the concordance section, when expanded, from being exported with the Translation ring graphs.
  • Settings drop-down for Grammatical Relationships is dismissed after choosing an option.
• Clause Visualizer
  • Default Greek and Hebrew font settings are now respected in Clause Visualizer resources.
• Copy Bible Verses
  • Fixed Swedish translation for “Delete Style” on style context menu.
• Guides
  • Fixed crash (InvalidCastException) that could occur when loading a layout with a custom guide.
• Highlighting
  • Added text wrapping to Image hint text in style editor to prevent clipped text in Spanish and Swedish UIs.
  • Fixed bug that caused a new palette to disappear and an existing palette to be duplicated until highlighting panel was refreshed.

• Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Changed the “Dock this panel” shortcut to Ctrl+Shift+F11 to avoid conflict with “Float this panel” (Ctrl+F11) in cases when both options are valid, as with docked panels in a floating window.
• Library
  • Sort by “Rank” results are no longer lost when filter is cleared.
  • Sort by “Tags” column sorts correctly.
• Localization
  • Audio for “Explain the screen” (F9), which is in English, will be disabled when the UI language is not English.
  • Biblical People/Places/Things in Spanish UI are listed in order of importance as in English UI (instead of alphabetically).
  • Fixed crash that occurred when the ‘uilang’ command was entered with an invalid language (e.g., uilang 123). A search panel will open instead.
  • In Spanish UI, replaced English word “Behind” in Reading Plans with Spanish word “Atrasado,” on home page ribbon and in document.
  • Logos Bible Software splash screen will be displayed in Spanish (Software Bíblico Logos) when the Spanish UI in Logos 4 is enabled.

  • Both Greek and English Apostolic Fathers are now supported in Passage List.
• Power Lookup
  • Fixed bug that prevented display of footnotes from last line of resource.
• Print/Export
  • Fixed bug that caused the first line of selected text to be indented when exported to RTF or HTML, even if start of paragraph was not included in selection.
  • Images are no longer omitted from RTF and HTML exports (e.g., ESV title page).
  • Verse text is included with references in exports from Harmony resources.
• Resource Panel
  • Fixed bug that caused the last line of selected text to lose it’s highlighting if it was partially clipped after scrolling up.
